We're back with EXPERT THURSDAY with the experts at Younique Hair & Esthetics!
This week we discuss how to promote hair growth and retention with expert hair stylist and colourist, Adele Cleary.
Noticing a few more hairs stuck in your comb after brushing through your hair? Adele offers her sage advice on the topic!
First, Adele suggests incorporating scalp massages into your hair care routine. Spend the time in the shower really working into the root of the hair follicles with various shampoos and products and working through all sections of the scalp with your fingers. Treat yourself and put those fingers to work! Adele offers that shampoos with mint or tea tree oil are a great way to stimulate the hair follicle (our current obsession is the Lavender Mint Tea Tree shampoo from Paul Mitchell - join us in store to get yours today)!
Adele mentions that, interestingly, the more gently you brush and comb through your hair the better you are able to retain the hair you already have - all while stimulating the scalp for new growth. So there is some truth in the old wives tale to brush your hair 1000 strokes before bed This technique is also useful for cradle cap in babies and even psoriasis of the scalp.
Finally, for an inside out approach - a common vitamin Adele suggests to her clients looking to grow out their hair and nails is Vitamin B12. Try increasing your intake of fish and eggs or ask your doctor if a B12 supplement is right for you.
